Emily Bainbridge

Emily has worked on public art commissions in hospitals, schools and libraries in London and the South East and Manchester and now works from her Cotswolds studio making mosaics from vintage china and selling them both privately and through a gallery in Bath. A fascination with the written word and a love of surface patterns form the basis of the concept of ChinaJack mosaics. I combine my love of tea, words and language with colour and pattern. The Union Jack is an iconic design - I wanted to interpret it in different ways through use of colours and patterns - and explore the symbolism of ' having a cuppa'. I fused these ideas together into ChinaJack mosaics.

Emily Lawlor attended the Art Foundation at City and Guilds of London Art School with Distinction and was Winner of the Foundation Award and then went on to graduate with a first class BA Hons from the Public Art and Design degree at Chelsea Art College in 1994.  Emily specialised in ceramics and mosaics at Chelsea.
